Escape the rat race, for self sufficient island life.

Tanera Mor is an island in Loch Broom in the Inner Hebrides of Scotland. It is the largest of the Summer Isles.
At 1.6 miles long by 1.2 miles wide, featuring coastal cliffs beaches and diverse wildlife is up for sale through Savills for £1.95 million.

Included in the purchace the main house - the Old School House plus nine traditional cottages, mostly renovated and a couple already with broadband which are currently being run as a tourist letting business. There is a cafe and, the post office which can produce its own summer isles postage stamps.

Wildlife on the island.The island's floral diversity is strong due to the lack of grazing over the last 25 years, with northern marsh orchids and butterfly orchids particularly strong. Otters are active, common and grey seals frequently visit from the other nearby Summer Isles, and basking sharks and porpoises pass by in summer. Bird species include eider, heron, red grouse and buzzards.

And a futher 164.000 native trees planted by the current owners over the last fifteen years protect the land from erosion and shelter the wind swept paths.

Escaping the modern world does not mean you miss out on the modern facilities.
Although the island is off the grid, self sufficient power is generated by wind turbines and a battery array providing contineous electricity..
